WINTER PARK, Fla. -- No. 20-ranked Midwestern State suffered a fifth consecutive loss and fell to 4-6 for the season with a 5-1 loss at Rollins on its Spring Break road trip.
The Tars opened the dual match by winning the doubles point. Luke Quaynor and Richard Stoiberer knocked off the Mustangs' No. 12-ranked pairing of
Luis Diaz Argente and
Stephen Slocombe at No. 1 doubles, 6-3.
Efe Comu and Nico de Giacomo clinched the point for Rollins with a 6-2 victory over
Justin Van Amerongen and
Bruno Sanchez at No. 3 doubles.
Comu got the Tars off to a strong start in singles by dispatching
Germano Setti, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 1 position. Setti was coming off a three-set win at Embry-Riddle on Tuesday and is 3-7 in dual matches for the Mustangs.
Freshman
Bruno Sanchez of Spain got Midwestern State on the board with a see-saw 6-0, 1-6, 6-2 victory over Guillermo Castaneda at No. 5 singles. Sanchez is 2-2 in singles and played the No. 5 spot for the first time as a Mustang.
