ODESSA, Texas -- Midwestern State didn't take advantage of its opportunities, and its road woes continued with a 66-62 loss to UT Permian Basin Thursday night at Falcon Dome.
It was the Mustangs' fourth-straight loss away from D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Lone Star Conference as MSU fell to 14-10 overall and 8-10 in league play.
MSU managed just 15 points off of UTPB miscues despite turning the Falcons over 15 times, while managing 36.4 percent from the floor.
The Mustangs erased an eight-point deficit and pulled even at 32-32 on a
Will Shepherd layup two minutes into the second half.
But UTPB scored the next 11 points and led by as many as 12 in the second half before sputtering its way to the finish.
MSU outscored the Falcons 9-2 over the final two minutes, but could get no closer than four points.
Junior forward
Reggie Hill logged his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while junior guard
Bakari LaStrap paced the Mustangs by scoring 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
Sophomore guard
Mason Gibson chipped in 12 points, while Shepherd finished with nine points and six rebounds.
UT Permian Basin junior D.J. Armstrong connected on four 3-pointers and paced the Falcons with 18 points, while junior Maison Adeleye added 17 points to go with five rebounds.
UTPB completed the season sweep of the Mustangs to improve to 14-10 while leveling its LSC mark at 9-9.
Midwestern State closes the road trip Saturday afternoon against Angelo State at the Junell Center in San Angelo. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
