WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Mere Escobar added to an already impressive list of accomplishments Tuesday with the release of the United Soccer Coaches' All-America honors.

The senior from Austin garnered first-team All-America honors for the first time during his illustrious career and became the first MSU soccer student-athlete to earn first-team mention from the USC and D2CCA during the same season.

Escobar also became just the third player in program history to earn All-America honors three times during his career, joining four-time winner Mark Warrior (1987, 1988, 1991, 1992) and current women's coach Ryan Spence, who claimed honors in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

He is the fifth Mustang to garner first-team All-America honors from the United Soccer Coaches during the NCAA era, following Daniel Woolard (2006), Albert Rodriguez (2015), Flavio Guzman (2016), and Pierre Bocquet (2017).

Warrior and Parker Cowand also gained first-team mention following the 1988 campaign.

Escobar previously garnered third-team All-America honors from the USC following the 2022 and 2023 campaigns.

Escobar did garner first-team D2CCA All-America mention from the sports information directors following the 2023 and 2024 campaigns and was a second-team honoree in 2022. He became MSU's first national individual award winner when he was the organization's Ron Lenz National Player of the Year in 2023.

Escobar was twice tabbed the D2CCA South Central Region Player of the Year (2023, 2024) and closes his career as a four-time all-region performer.

Escobar was the Lone Star Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024, the LSC Midfielder of the Year in 2022 and 2024, and the league's forward of the year in 2023.

Escobar gained All-LSC first-team mention in each of the last four seasons and was tabbed the LSC Freshman of the Year in 2020.

Escobar recently completed a brilliant senior campaign, finishing with 16 goals and 10 assists.

Escobar, who scored at least 11 goals in each of the last four seasons, closed his career as the program leader with 60 goals.

Merito accounted for multiple goals in five matches this season, including a hat trick against Texas A&M International and braces in wins over MSU Denver, Fort Hays State, Southern Nazarene, and Lubbock Christian.

The Mustangs compiled a 41-0-2 record when Escobar tallied goals over the last five seasons.
