WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State hopes to end a three-game slide when it hosts UT Dallas at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Tuesday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Mustangs have opened the season with a 1-5 overall record and are coming off an 87-61 loss at Lubbock Christian in the conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

Midwestern State is the second-best rebounding team in the Lone Star Conference with 42.5 boards per game. The Mustangs are second in the league with 17.3 offensive rebounds per game.

Zarria Carter has four double-doubles this season, which leads the nation among NCAA Division II players, and she is the leading rebounder in the LSC — seventh in the nation — with 11 boards per game. The senior from Mansfield, Texas, is fourth in the league with 18.8 points per game. Carter is also leading the league with 12 steals.

Carter has the second-best field goal percentage in the LSC at 51.7 percent (45 of 87), and she has the third-most field goal attempts among conference shooters.

Carter scored 17 points in Lubbock on 6-of-11 shooting but only managed to pull down four rebounds against the Lady Chaps, who established a 26-17 lead in the first quarter and hit 30-of-58 shots (51.7%) during the game. Kerbie Cash was the only other Mustang in double figures with 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting, and the freshman from Wylie, Texas, led the team with seven rebounds.

Cash is the second-leading scorer on the team with 8.5 points per game, and she is the second-leading rebounder among active players for the Mustangs with 5.2 boards per game.

Midwestern State is shooting 31.3 percent from the field and averaging 55.2 points per game. Opponents are shooting 40.3 percent against the Stang Gang and scoring 67.3 points per game.

Midwestern State is meeting UT Dallas for the first time in the history of the program. The Comets join the LSC next season.

UT Dallas is coming off back-to-back wins, defeating Rhodes (76-58) and Schreiner (66-49), and arrives at D.L. Ligon Coliseum with a 4-3 record. The Comets are facing an LSC team for the second time this season. St. Mary's defeated UT Dallas at the Activity Center in Richardson, Texas, 69-65, on Nov. 20.

Alex Bowman, a senior guard from Kaufman, Texas, is the leading scorer for the Comets with 14 points per game. Junior forward Addy Self, who attended Rider High School in Wichita Falls, is averaging nine points and a team-leading 5.2 rebounds per game for UT Dallas. Anna Yellen, a senior forward from El Paso, is scoring 11 points per game for the Comets.

Midwestern State is playing its final non-conference game of the season and will visit top-ranked Texas Woman's at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, Texas on Dec. 4.
