WICHITA FALLS, Texas --  Midwestern State looks to extend its winning streak to four games as it hosts St. Edward's on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff at D.L.Ligon Coliseum is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Mustangs are 4-1 to start the season and 1-0 in conference play after defeating St. Mary's in the Lone Star Conference opener on Thursday night, 73-50.
Pierre Sanders finished with 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds to lead the Mustangs, who shot 47.5 percent from the field and held the Rattlers to a season-low 30.9 percent shooting from the field.
Mason Gibson is the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week for his exploits in wins over Western Colorado and Adams State as he scored 56 points in the two games combined.
The junior from Allen, Texas, scored 15 points against St. Mary's and is the second leading scorer in the LSC with 22.5 points per game. Gibson is shooting 47 percent from the field (39 of 93) and 37.5 percent (9 of 24) from 3-point range. He also leads the team with 11 steals and is grabbing 3.8 rebounds per contest. He is second on the team with 3.5 assists per game.
Sanders leads the team with 4.6 assists per game and is the second-leading scorer with 13.2 points per game. Sanders is shooting 53.5 percent (23 of 43) from the field, and he is 6 of 13 from beyond the arc this season. Sanders is six points shy of 1300 in his career at MSU and needs four rebounds to reach 500 as a member of the Stang Gang.
Midwestern State, which is shooting 46.2 percent from the field overall, is second in the conference with a shooting percentage of 40.8 percent from 3-point distance.

Sanders is leading the league with assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.2, and the Mustangs are fourth in the LSC with just 10.8 turnovers per game.
The Mustangs are averaging 81 points per game, which is eighth-best in the LSC. Opponents are scoring 74.8 points per game against MSU, which is 12th in the conference.
Midwestern State leads the all-time series with St. Edward's, 18-12, but has lost three of the last four meetings, including an 85-71 loss in Austin, Texas, last December. MSU is 11-4 when hosting the Hilltoppers, who won their last visit, 79-75, in the 2022-23 season.
St. Edward's is 6-2 but had a four-game winning streak snapped with an 87-72 loss at Lubbock Christian in their conference opener on Thursday night.
The Hilltoppers are scoring 84.4 points per game, which is third best in the conference, but they allow opponents to score 72.4 points per game, which is 11th in the league.
Gavino Ramos leads St. Edward's with 15.3 points and 3.8 assists per game.
St. Edward's is second in the league with 17.5 assists per game. The Hilltoppers are third in the LSC with 24.4 3-point attempts per game, and they shoot 40 percent from beyond the arc, which is fourth-best in the LSC.
Connor McManus leads the league with 44 3-point attempts and is ninth in the conference with 2.38 made 3-pointers per game.
Lewis Rowe is the leading rebounder for the Hilltoppers with 2.75 boards per game, and St. Edward's is 13th in the league with 32.25 rebounds per game.
Midwestern State travels to the Metroplex on Dec. 4 to face Dallas Baptist. Tipoff at Burg Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
