BOULDER CITY, Nevada -- Midwestern State enjoyed several record-setting performances on the way to finish fourth in a stellar field in the NCAA Division II National Preview Tuesday afternoon at the Boulder City Golf Club.

The Mustangs fired three consecutive par-or-better team totals of 285, 282, and 284 for a 13-under aggregate score of 851. The tally set a new team, 54-hole total by 21 strokes, improving on the previous 8-over, 872 total set at the 2024 Lone Star Conference Championships.

"We had a great day," MSU coach Jeff Ray said. "Give everyone credit for being tough and hanging in there mentally. The course was set up well, but you still had to hit golf shots. There were some long par-4s and the par-3s were tough."

MSU's 6-under 282 in the second rounds also matched the program's single round team low previously set in the second round of the 2023 DBU Women's Classic played on the Wildhorse Golf Course at Robson Ranch.

Despite the historic finish, the Mustangs placed fourth behind California State-San Marcos (830/-34), Dallas Baptist (831/-33), and St. Mary's (840/-24).

Freshman Mary Kerr set the program's new low 54-hole total by carding scores of 69, 74, and 67 for a 6-under total of 210 to finish in a tie for 11th. Her 5-under 67 in the final round was the second lowest single round in program history, falling one stroke behind Tristan Gabbard's 66 set at the 2023 DBU Women's Classic.

"Mary was solid from tee-to-green all day," Ray said. "She chipped the ball and putted well all day. She is not afraid of the moment. I am very proud of her."

Junior Kodi Nolen tied for 22nd, following an opening round 75 with a pair of par-or-better scores with a 70 and 69 to finish with 2-under total of 214.

"Kodi played very well today," Ray said. " She had her best tournament as a Mustang."

Junior Alli Reily finished 24th after carding scores of 68, 72, and 75 for a 1-under 215, while seniors Makenna Henry (79-70-73) and Brecklyn Flanagan (73-70-80) also contributed par-or-better scores on the way to placing tied for 42nd and 46th, respectively.

Sophomore Madison Wert (83-81-83) finished 74th, competing as an individual only.

"Looking forward to getting back home and going to work," Ray said. "We'll just have to keep working and getting better."

UT Tyler junior Arnie Taguines fired scores of 70, 64, and 66 for a 16-under total of 200 to win top individual honors by two strokes over California State-San Marcos' Madison Murr (70-66-66).

The Mustangs close out fall competition by hosting the Midwestern State Invitational on October 21-22 at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
