ODESSA, Texas -- Midwestern State faces UT Permian Basin at the UTPB Gym Complex on the heels of a five-set loss at Western New Mexico. First serve is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Demi Stauffenberg and
Riley Rabedeaux both notched double-doubles, but Midwestern State fell to the Western New Mexico Mustangs 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 12-15) Thursday at Drag's Court. Stauffenberg had a team-leading 17 kills and added 12 digs, while Rabedeaux finished with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Isabella Dickens continued her impressive run of play with 15 kills and hit .500 for the match. Stauffenberg hit .282 for the Mustangs, who had .179 attack percentage as a team in Silver City, New Mexico.
Alayna Guerrero had 31 assists, and
Brooke Parker finished with 20 assists.
Amy DeWalt had 24 of the 78 digs for the Mustangs in their first five-set match of the season.
Dickens leads the team and is ninth in the conference with a .339 hitting percentage.
Gabrielle Oos is leading the team and is 12th in the league with 38 blocks. Rabedeaux is 12th in the league with 170 total kills, and she is hitting .235 for the Mustangs.
Midwestern State leads the Lone Star Conference and is 14th in the nation with 39.42 attacks per set, but the Mustangs are 13th in the conference with a hitting percentage of .187.
The last 10 matches between MSU and UTPB have been decided in straight sets. The Mustangs won four straight matches over the Falcons, 3-0, starting in 2016, but UTPB has won the last six meetings, including a 25-22, 25-20, 29-27 victory at D.L. Ligon Coliseum last season.
Midwestern State leads the all-time series, 12-10, and is 3-4 when visiting the Falcons. The Mustangs lost their last visit to the UTPB Gym Complex, 25-23, 25-18, 25-12. UTPB hit .315 and committed just four errors en route to the victory.
UTPB fell to 2-3 in the conference and 9-5 overall with a 3-1 loss to Texas Woman's on Thursday night, and the Falcons are 4-2 at home this season.
The Falcons have been holding opponents to a conference best .137 hitting percentage, which is 24th in the nation among Division II programs.
UTPB also leads the LSC and is 25th in the nation with 2.43 blocks per set. Lauryn Demuth and Chyra Thompson are third and fourth respectively in the league among shot blockers. Demuth is averaging 1.06 blocks per set, and Thompson averages one block per set.
Thompson leads the Falcons and is fourth in the LSC with a .372 hitting percentage.
Midwestern State begins a three-match homestand on Friday night as it faces St. Edward's. First serve at D.L. Ligon Coliseum is scheduled for 6 p.m.
