WICHITA FALLS, Texas – A trio of Mustangs earned to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team®, announced the organization Tuesday afternoon.
Sadie Christiansen,
Arrianna Fields, and
Demi Stauffenberg named to the honoree list, with all three seniors earning the accolades for the first time.
Christiansen, a Child and Adolescent Studies major, featured in 24 matches for the Mustangs, playing in 87 sets. The defensive specialist finished the season with 223 digs, averaging 2.51 digs per set. The Syracuse, Utah native compiled a pair of service aces, and a .926 reception percentage on 376 attempts. Christiansen crossed 1,000 career digs during the season, while picking up a season high 26 digs against Augustana (S.D).
Fields, also named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team, wins the honor for the first time in their career. An Exercise Physiology major, Fields played in every match for the Mustangs, making 10 stats. The outside hitter posted 2.58 kills per set, and added 42.0 total blocks. The McKinney, Texas native surpassed 10+ kills 13 times; including a season high 17 kills against Oklahoma Christian in a 3-2 win (10/10).
Stauffenberg adds the Academic All-District honor to their season accolades after crossing both 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs this season. The senior from Lander, Wyo. Played in every match for MSU, making 25 starts. Stauffenberg was influential on both offense and defense, averaging 2.14 points per set, adding 22 service aces, while leading the team with 3.50 digs per set and a team best .974 reception percentage on 575 total attempts.
In order to be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have played 90% of the team's games or start in 66.6% of the team's games with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
