WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State travels to No. 23-ranked Dallas Baptist on Wednesday to play its first conference road match. First serve at Burg Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Mustangs opened conference play at home this past weekend.
No. 14-ranked Angelo State fended off a feisty challenge from MSU but earned a 25-15, 25-23, 25-18 victory. The following day Midwestern State got off to a promising start against Lubbock Christian, but the Lady Chaps got stronger as the match progressed and walked out of D.L. Ligon Coliseum with a 24-26, 25-23, 25-14, 25-9 victory.
Midwestern State fell to 6-7 for the season and is 0-2 in Lone Star Conference matches.
The Mustangs won their only true road match so far this season. MSU won a non-conference match at Eastern New Mexico, 3-0.
Midwestern State is leading the conference and is third in the nation with 40.7 attacks per set but is hitting .180 with 12.7 kills per set.
Senior outside hitter
Riley Rabedeaux leads MSU with 3.16 kills per set, and junior outside hitter Demi Staffenberg is averaging 2.76 kills per set.
Middle hitter
Isabella Dickens, a sophomore from Iowa Park, Texas, is hitting a team-best .309, which is ninth in the LSC.
Senior setter
Brooke Parker leads Midwestern State with 6.38 assists per set, which is eighth-best in the LSC.
Junior middle hitter
Gabrielle Oos is eighth in the conference with 37 total blocks, and she is ninth in the league with 0.90 blocks per set.
The Mustangs are averaging 1.66 blocks per set and have 73 total blocks this season.
Midwestern State is fifth in the conference with 16.75 digs per set, and sophomore
Jenna Redding is the team leader with 3.66 digs per set.
Midwestern State leads the all-time series with Dallas Baptist, 38-23, but the Mustangs have lost four of the last five meetings with the Patriots.
Delaney Fuller and Karly Wells each had 16 kills for the Patriots in a 25-19, 26-24, 25-21 victory over the Mustangs at D.L. Ligon Coliseum last season.
Dallas Baptist is 8-4 for the season with a 5-3 record at Burg Center. The Patriots defeated both Cameron and Oklahoma Christian in straight sets at home to open conference play with a 2-0 record.
Fuller leads the conference with 4.50 kills per set and 4.92 points per set. Fuller is atop the league with 207 total kills. Wells is second on the team and ninth in the LSC with 3.28 kills per set. Wells is eighth in the conference with 151 total kills.
DBU is third in the league with 1.78 aces per set, and Aryn Watson is third in the league with 20 total aces this season.
The Patriots have held opponents to a .187 hitting percentage, which is fourth-best in the LSC.
