WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State welcomes No. 14 St. Mary's to MSU Tennis Center for the first Lone Star Conference dual of the season. The Mustangs and Rattlers begin their matches Saturday at 10 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT | Midwestern State rolled to its third and fourth consecutive wins by taking down two more high profile junior college programs Friday at the MSU Tennis Center. The Mustangs edged No. 2-ranked Cowley County before sweeping No. 8-ranked Collin College improving to 5-2 for the season. Skylar Minns won her fourth consecutive singles match in convincing style, taking down NJCAA No. 13-ranked Ntokozo Zungu 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles in the 4-3 victory over Cowley County. The Mustangs won all three doubles matches rolled to straight-set wins at five of the six singles positions and eased past Collin College, 7-0.

MUSTANGS IN THE ITA RANKINGS | Junior Anda Ghinga is the lone Midwestern State player carrying a singles ranking coming in at No. 45 nationally and at No. 6 in the South Central Region rankings. The Mustangs boast three doubles in the South Central Region rankings including Skylar Minns and Micaela McSpadden at No. 2, Emilija Visic and Hannah Yip at No. 7, and Alice Di Matteo and Kanaha Furutani at No. 10.

QUICK SERVES | Junior Skylar Minns has opened the season 5-0 in singles, including a 3-0 record at No. 5. Minns won her first match of the season at No. 6 singles, and breezed past Jahstine Ballado at No. 4 singles in her last match against Collin College. 6-2, 6-2…Amelia Lawson has won three of her last four matches at No. 1 singles, including a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (13-11) win over Larissa Correa of Collin College in her last match, and Lawson is 4-3 at No. 1 singles this season… Alic DiMatteo is 4-2 at No. 3 singles for the Mustangs and has a three-match winning streak… Emilija Visic is 4-2 in singles and has won three of her last four matches, including a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Ekaterina Orlova of Collin College in her last match…MSU is 22-13 in singles as a team…Di Matteo and Kanaha Furutani are 4-2 in doubles, including 2-2 at No. 2 doubles following a 6-0 victory over Collin College last week…Lawson and Sydney Williams are 3-2 at No. 1 doubles and eased past Collin College in their last match, 6-2…MSU is 11-8 in doubles this season…

SCOUTING THE RATTLERS | St. Mary's entered LSC play off its first loss of the season as the Rattlers were beaten by crosstown rival Our Lady of the Lake last week, 4-3….Rattlers were 5-1 entering their match with Lubbock Christian on Friday… Alvaro Soler was ranked No. 14, and Ryan Koth was ranked No. 20 in the singles South Central Region at the conclusion of the fall campaign…Nicolas Llosa and Sebastian Azcui were ranked No. 9 in the doubles South Central Region at the end of the fall season…Bernhard Hauer won the B Draw of the ITA South Central Regional, posting a perfect 3-0 record. Hauer defeated a trio of DBU players to win the title…Aaron Ben Anton was an 11-time regional champion and helped Otto-Hahn Gymnasium Ludwigsburg to the German school championship in 2019…St. Mary's was 17-7 last season with a 4-3 record in the Lone Star Conference…Daniel Matheu Baldor was name LSC Player of the Week on Feb. 9 after defeating Carson Kirk of Schreiner, 6-2, 6-2, and teaming with fellow Spaniard Alvaro Soler for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles…Jake Faryniarz has opened the season 5-0 in singles, winning three matches at No. 5 singles and earning two wins at No. 6 singles…Nicolas Llosa has won his last three matches, winning once at No. 6 singles and twice at No. 5 singles…Llosa is 0-3 at No. 2 singles…Llosa and Faryniarz are 3-0 at No. 2 doubles…Rattlers are 14-4 overall in doubles and 4-2 at No. 1 doubles…Rattlers are 26-10 in singles overall, going 6-0 at No. 5 singles and 5-1 at No. 6 singles…Rattlers are 4-2 at both No. 1 and No. 3 singles…
