LAREDO, Texas -- Texas A&M International won its fourth straight game eliminating Midwestern State from Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament contention with a 79-68 victory over Midwestern State Saturday at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
HOW IT HAPPENED >>>
Texas A&M International riddled the Mustangs' zone defense by matching a season-high with 12 made 3-pointers while shooting 52.8 percent from the field.
The Dustdevils overcame a 10-point deficit early in the first half, then scored eight consecutive points powered by triples from Jermaine Drewery and Greg Bowie II to take a 54-40 lead with 11:23 to play.
Midwestern State chipped the lead down to seven points on two occasions in the closing as the teams exchanged field goals for the last 10 minutes of the game.

- Midwestern State senior
Jermane Carter matched a season-high with 24 points while taking a campaign-high 25 shots. The Mount Laurel, N.J. added nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots in 35 minutes.
- Junior guard
Pierre Sanders knocked down 11-of-17 shots from the field to deliver his third 20-point performance of the season finishing with 22.
- TAMIU sophomore Lonzo Rand matched a season-best with three made 3-pointers to lead the Dustdevils with 15 points.

- Midwestern State dropped its sixth-straight road game to fall to 11-16 on the season and 8-13 in Lone Star Conference play.
- The Mustangs are eliminated from Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament contention after falling to 11th in the league. MSU trails Dallas Baptist and Texas A&M International by three games in the loss column with one game to play. DBU and TAMIU each play twice next week.
- Midwestern State failed to advanced to the LSC Postseason Tournament for the first time since 2018-19 and for just the fourth time since joining the league in 1997-98.
- Texas A&M International moved into a tie with DBU for the eighth and final berth in the LSC Postseason Tournament. The Dustdevils won their fourth consecutive game to improve to 17-11 overall and 10-10 in LSC play.
