WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State overcame a 4-of-25 shooting performance in the second half with tenacious defense down the stretch, and the Mustangs defeated Eastern New Mexico at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Saturday night, 56-53.

Senior guard
Pierre Sanders scored 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field in the first half, and the Mustangs took a 32-24 halftime lead over the Greyhounds.
Midwestern State missed its first 12 shots from the field in the second half and fell behind 48-41 with 7:15 remaining in the game.
The Mustangs responded with a 12-0 run to take a 53-48 lead with 2:11 remaining on a
Jermane Carter layup.
Eastern New Mexico only made one of its final nine shots from the field.
Midwestern State finished 15 of 21 at the free-throw line, and ENMU was 5 of 14 from the foul line.

- Sanders finished with a season-high 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds for the Mustangs.
- Senior forward
Jermane Carter notched his fourth double-double of the season finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Derrick Ogechi scored in double figures for the fifth-straight game with 10 points, hitting 5 of 7 free throws.
- Freshman guard
Mason Gibson scored in double figures against a conference opponent for the first time in his career. Gibson was 2 of 4 from beyond the arc and scored 10 points in 15 minutes of action.
- Senior
Luke Hamilton finished the night with 3 points and 3 rebounds but led the Mustangs in +/- rating with a +7 in the victory.
- Jose Murrillo, Junior Hodnett and Malique Oates each scored 10 points for the Greyhounds.
GAME NOTES >>>
- Midwestern State improved to 37-18 in its all-time series with Eastern New Mexico. The Mustangs have won the last three meetings and are 18-8 at home in the series.
- MSU has won six of its last seven games, improving its season record at 8-7 while moving to 5-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
- Eastern New Mexico saw a five-game winning streak snapped and fell to 10-4 on the season with a 5-3 record in conference play.
