LAST MEETING | Midwestern State scored the first 17 points of the game as UT Permian Basin missed its first 14 shots from the field, and the Mustangs breezed to a 68-53 victory at UTPB Gym Complex in Odessa last season. Midwestern State never let its defensive intensity fade. The Falcons didn't score a single point until Quinntez Grimes hit a jumper just over 10 minutes into the game. And that came after Terrell Wilson, Jordan Teal and Amaechi Chukwu buried consecutive 3-pointers to give MSU an insurmountable 17-0 lead. Midwestern State held its fifth consecutive opponent to under its season scoring average and it was fourth time during the stretch the opposition ended the game with a season low. UT Permian Basin managed to shoot 30.6 percent from the field which the lowest for the program since the Falcons shot 28.2 percent in an 83-67 loss at Arkansas-Fort Smith on Jan. 2, 2016. Meanwhile, MSU guard Terrell Wilson and Pierre Sanders took advantage of UTPB's defensive game plan of denying kick out passes on the perimeter to score 17 points each. Jordan Horn paced UTPB with 16 points, while Grimes pitched in 15 for the Falcons.

LAST TIME OUT | Angelo State junior Kevon Godwin scored 18 points and dished out five assists to lead a group of six Rams in double figures to lead ASU to a 89-74 win over Midwestern State Thursday night at Junell Center. Angelo State scored 20 second-chance points and scored 17 points off of 12 Midwestern State turnovers to take control of the game. MSU junior Marquis Davison scored a game-high 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting before fouling out in 34 minutes. Davison matched a season-high with nine rebounds grabbing seven on the offensive end of the floor. MSU senior Jermane Carter recorded his third consecutive double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out in 35 minutes. It was Carter's fifth double-double of the campaign. MSU junior Pierre Sanders added 11 points while going 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. He dished out three assists. Reigning Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week Kevon Godwin paced the Rams with 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting with four 3-pointers. Angelo State's 89 points were the most surrendered by the Mustangs this season.
