Midwestern State renews rivaly with Buffaloes

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - - No. 5 Midwestern State faces No. 18 West Texas A&M Wednesday at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY | MSU leads, 35-22-4

LAST MEETING | Ben Siri scored the winning goal in the 84th minute, and West Texas A&M closed out the 2021 regular season with a 3-2 victory over the Mustangs at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas. Trevor Amann had given MSU the lead with a goal at 25:04 of the first half. Rotam Weiss and Chris Palomino gave the Buffaloes a 2-1 lead, but Tristian Adams would tie the game with his first collegiate goal in the 79th minute. Julian Barajas assisted on both goals for the Mustangs. The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for MSU, which finished the season with a 7-1 conference record.

LAST TIME OUT | Midwestern State kept its perfect record intact with a 3-0 victory over Southern Nazarene in the final game of the MSU Classic at Stang Park on Saturday night. Mere Escobar scored from the penalty spot in the 37th minute to put the Mustangs ahead, 1-0. Just over a minute later, Tristian Adams was assisted by Adam Robinson to give MSU a 2-0 lead. Escobar also recorded an assist as Sulahmana Bah scored his second goal of the season in the 61st minute. MSU goalkeeper Adam Braman made four saves in the victory.

MUSTANG TRACKS | Midwestern State has lost its last three encounters with West Texas A&M, and the Buffaloes have won four of the last five meetings.
