SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Anda Ghina secured Midwestern State's only point of the match as the team fell to St. Mary's 4-1 on Friday afternoon. With the loss in its ninth consecutive postseason bid, Midwestern State ends the 2022 season. The Mustangs exit the NCAA Round of 32 at Rohrbach Stadium Tennis Complex.

St. Mary's gained the upper hand and the first point after winning No. 2 and 3 doubles. Anda Ghinga and Hannah Yip collected their third loss of the season. The duo fell to Ashley Penshorn and Alice Thane at line two.

Gabi Ioannou and Marina Vigil had an early 3-0 at line three. Sydney Williams and Ethne Dowling, in their first match together, rebounded to even the score at threes. The Rattler duo finished with a 6-3 victory.

Dowling and Maria Garcia battled in set one at singles line three. No. 42 Garcia posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory for her sixth consecutive win. Dowling collected a 10-11 tally for the season.

Ioannou rolled to a straight-set victory over Yip for her seventh consecutive win. This was Yip's first contest at line five this season. The freshman finished with an 11-14 record in all singles competitions.

Ghinga brought the Mustangs hope with her win at line one. The sophomore never trailed in her 6-4 set one score against No. 40 Penshorn. Ghinga outlasted the senior in set two for MSU's first point of the match. The Arad, Romania, native finished with 16 wins, a single-season program record.

In her eight straight win, Thane clinched the match at line six for the Rattlers. Skylar Minns fought in set one, but fell 7-5, 6-2. The sophomore controlled an 18-8 record in all singles contests.
