Midwestern State welcomes Fulshear High standout Tristan Gabbard to the Stang Gang

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State announced the addition of prep standout Tristan Gabbard for the 2022-23 season Wednesday afternoon.

Gabbard is a two-time state qualifier at Fulshear High School and has claimed 12 tournament wins on the Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf circuit.

"Tristan is a very gifted young lady. She is long off the box and has great hands," MSU coach Jeff Ray said. "She continues to get better every week. Tristan has an exciting career ahead of her in college."

Gabbard finished 11th in the 2022 UIL Class 5A  Championships carding scores of 81 and 70 for a 7-over total of 151 at the White Wing Golf Club last week in Georgetown.

Gabbard claimed a silver medal in the 2019 UIL Class 4A Championship as a freshman carding scores of 74 and 76 for an 8-over total 150 at Kyle Plum Creek Golf Course.

That came on the heels of a third-place showing in the 2019 Region IV-4A Championships firing scores of 77 and 81 at Corpus Christi's Oso Beach Golf Course.

Gabbard also qualified for the Region III-5A Championships as a junior in 2021 finishing ninth while marking scores of 82 and 73 at The Golf Club at Texas A&M.

Gabbard led the Chargers to team district championships 2019, 2021, 2022 while also claiming individual titles.

She earned Texas Golf Coaches' Association All-State honors as a freshman in 2019 and was the district newcomer of the year.

Gabbard also played on the Texas Junior Golf Tour during her junior career.

She intends to major in Economics at Midwestern State.
