LSC POSTSEASON PICTURE
Midwestern State comes into the weekend tied for 12th with Eastern New Mexico in the Lone Star Conference standings at 6-18. The Mustangs trail St. Edward's (9-15) by three games with six left to play for the 10th and final position in the LSC Postseason Tournament. Texas A&M International, who comes into Wichita Falls on Saturday is 11th with a 7-17 mark.

Hanna Hetherington's 12 home runs rank third in the Lone Star Conference and 23rd in NCAA Division II. The 12 homers are tied for the 12th most in a single season in program history and are the most since Carli Woolsey hit 13 homers in 2019.

Mikey Dominguez' four triples rank for the in the Lone Star Conference and 40th in NCAA Division II. Of Dominguez' 30 hits this season, 13 have been for extra bases also including three doubles and six home runs.
10 |Â Â Bailey Brenek is hitting .484 during her current season best 10-game hitting streak. The junior has hit four homers during streak while improving her team-best batting average to .393. Brenek leads the Mustangs with 17 multi-hit games.

Ashley Turner ranks eighth in the Lone Star Conference and 85th in NCAA Division II with 12 doubles. She is second on the club hitting .344 with seven homers and 20 RBIs.
20 |Â Â Midwestern State plays its 19th and 20th games against teams in the National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association's Top 25 Friday against No. 5 Texas A&M-Kingsville. That makes 20 of 41 games against nationally ranked opposition.

AT THE HELM
HEAD COACH BRITTANIE TALLEY is in her first season at the helm of the Midwestern State program. Talley amassed a 129-75 record (.632) over the past five seasons at Vernon College including a 42-12 run while leading Chaps to the 2021 NJCAA regional tournament. That came on the heels of a 21-1 start in 2020 before the season was cut short by the pandemic. Prior to Vernon College, Talley played a role in a successful three-year run at Alabama State helping the Lady Hornets to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Division I regionals in 2016. She competed professionally for the Skovde Saints winning the Swedish championship as the league's pitcher of the year in 2011. She enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Jackson State where she earned second-team All-SWAC honors earning 27 career wins while posting seven shutouts. She also hit .320 in 172 career at bats.
ABOUT THE JAVELINAS
Texas A&M-Kingsville ranked third in the initial NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings released earlier in the week. The Javelinas are fifth in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 17-7 record. TAMUK ranks seventh in NCAA Division II scoring 7.69 runs per game, while also rating 16th national with a 1.89 team ERA. Junior Matisen Onofrei (.424), junior Jory Cervantes (.410) and sophomore Aaliyah Ortiz (.407) lead the Texas A&M-Kingsville attack, while freshman Carissa De Los Santos (7-1, 1.57 ERA), sophomore Beth Montes (12-2, 1.63 ERA) and Saidi Castillo (11-3, 1.92 ERA) head the pitching staff.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Kingsville meet for the 43rd and 44th times on the diamond Friday afternoon at Mustangs Park. The Mustangs own a 24-18 edge in the series which dates back to the 2004 season. The Javelinas, however, have won the last 11 games in the series including an 11-0 run-rule victory in five inning earlier this season (Feb. 20) in Arkadelphia, Ark. Midwestern State's last win against TAMUK was a 9-2 victory on April 23, 2016 in Wichita Falls. MSU won 13 consecutive games against the Hoggies from 2011 to 2015.
