RICHARDSON, Texas -- Senior Alex Martinez Roca collected his first Lone Star Conference Player of the Week award for the season as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. This is his second POW accolade in his career at Midwestern State.

Martinez Roca was undefeated for the Mustangs during a 3-0 week to help the team to six consecutive wins. The senior went 3-0 in singles and doubles, extending his six-match streaks in both. No. 20-ranked Martinez Roca tallied three-set victories against No. 47 Manuel Pilotto of Southeastern Oklahoma State and Jonathan Vega of Western New Mexico. The Castelldefels, Spain, product finished the week with a win at line one over UTPB's Enrique Sanchez, the 70th-ranked singles player in DII.

Martinez Roca and Ben Westwick, the top-ranked duo in Division II, collected three wins to improve to 12-1 this season.

Martinez Roca and MSU take a break from play this week, but return to the court on Friday, April 8. The Mustangs host Northwest Missouri State at MSU Tennis Center for a non-conference battle. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
