Mustangs coast to seven straight wins with back-to-back victories over Montevallo and Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark.-- Midwestern State continues to push their winning streak as they add two with a 4-2 victory over Motevallo and a 4-0 sweep of Southern Arkansas. The No. 23 ranked Mustangs are 9-3 on the season after the weekend in Magnolia, Ark.

MIDWESTERN STATE 4,  MONTEVALLO 2

Anda Ghinga and Hannah Yip tallied another takedown as they beat Mireia Turro and Eva Dirr by 6-2. The No. 26 ranked duo led the Mustangs from the No. 1 doubles line.

No. 31 Casie Curry and Emilija Visic followed with a 6-2 win of their own. The pair beat Emily Hafner and Lieselotte Harthohne at the second spot.

Skylar Minns and Sydney Williams clinched MSU's first point of the match from the No. 3 position. They went 7-6 (7-5) versus Cyba Ozzor and London Breedlove.

Curry took a 6-0, 6-0 sweep versus Dirr at the fourth singles line to keep the points rolling for Midwestern State.

Turro bested No. 40 Ghinga at the top singles spot. The 6-0, 6-4 win for the Mulerider earned the team their first point of the match.

Yip also took a hard fall at the second position. Ozzor overcame the freshman by a 0-6, 4-6 score.

Ethne Dowling put the Mustangs back on track with a No. 3 win over Hafner. She tallied a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) score.

Visic secured the match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Isabelle Barfoot at the fifth line.

Minns' sixth line battle went unfinished after a 6-3 win in the first set.
 

MIDWESTERN STATE 4, SOUTHERN ARKANSAS 0

No. 31 Curry and Visic went 6-1 on the season with their victory at the second doubles line. The duo beat Lena Milosevic and Simone Simas by 6-3. Curry is 8-2 on the year while Visic is 8-4 in doubles play.

No. 26 Ghinga and Yip notched their seventh straight win. The pair went 6-4 versus Inna Serpukhova and Greta Wallin at the top spot. Ghinga holds a 9-3 doubles record and Yip is 10-2.

Minns and Williams grabbed their third consecutive win from the third position. They took down Kalley Smith and Sarah Roy by 6-4. Williams has a 8-4 record and Minns is also 8-4 overall.

Dowling won her second match of the day at the third singles spot. The junior earned a 6-2, 6-2 tally versus Wallin to go 5-3 in singles play. Dowling is 4-1 at No. 3.

Yip rebounded from her earlier loss with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Roy. The freshman is 6-6 for the season, playing only at the second line.

Curry clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 score over Simas at the fourth position. Curry is 6-3 overall and 5-2 from the fourth line.

Ghinga's three-set battle at the top spot went unfinished while Visic's and Minn's matches at No. 5 and No. 6 were also incomplete.

Midwestern State returns home for a full week of matches next week. The Mustangs kick-off Spring Break with a clash versus Emporia State on Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. MSU follows with a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 15. They face No. 15 Nebraska-Kearney at 10 a.m. and Hastings College at 2 p.m. All matches will take place at MSU Tennis Center in Wichita Falls, Texas.
