Midwestern State routed Eastern New Mexico 71-49 Saturday night in Portales to improve to 9-13 overall while leveling its Lone Star Conference mark at 5-5... The 22-point margin of victory was the largest since MSU beat Cameron 98-75 on Dec. 11, 2020 in Lawton... The Mustangs have won four of their last six games... The Mustangs entered a four-way tie for seventh in the LSC standings with St. Edward's (6-6), UT Tyler (5-5) and UT Permian Basin (5-5)... HEAD COACH JUSTIN LESLIE is in his third season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's basketball program. The Mustangs battled to an 8-21 mark in 2019-20 but closed the regular season by winning four out of five games to qualify for the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament. MSU also closed the 2020-21 regular season with four straight wins advancing the LSC Postseason Tournament for the second straight year with an 11-8 overall record. Prior to MSU, Leslie posted a 266-121 overall record (.687) at Azusa Pacific leading the Cougars to nine 20-win campaigns, two Pacific West Conference titles, seven postseason tournament appearance and an NCAA Division II Elite Eight showing in 2015. Overall, Leslie owns a 294-163 mark (.643) in 15 seasons as a collegiate head coach including a 28-42 record (.400) at MSU.

DBU is one of the most opportunistic teams in the LSC ranking second in the league and 13th in NCAA Division II with a +4.3 turnover margin... HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER owns a 302-186(.619) record in his 16th season as at the helm of the Dallas Baptist men's basketball program. He has guided the Patriots to six NCAA Division II South Central Region appearances including postseason runs in each of the last four seasons. Flickner led DBU to Heartland Conference regular season titles in 2017 and 2018 and league postseason championships in 2016 and 2018. The Patriots have topped the 20-win plateau in seven of Flickner's 15 seasons leading the program.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Dallas Baptist meet for the 52nd time on the hardwood Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs own a 27-24 edge in the series that dates back to the 1968-69 season. DBU, however, has won each of the six meetings including a 79-69 victory earlier this season. It's the first meeting in Wichita Falls since DBU claimed an 88-83 win on Nov. 15, 2008 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Midwestern State is 18-7 all-time against DBU at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Gume Ibarra's 24-point, 9-rebound performance helped MSU to its last win over DBU on Feb. 24, 1990 in Dallas. The Indians won 86-69.
