No. 8 MSU makes trip to Eastern New Mexico, hoping to rebound from first loss

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - - No. 8-ranked Midwestern State wraps up a three-match road trip on Wednesday as it visits Eastern New Mexico for a Lone Star Conference encounter at Greyhound Stadium in Portales, New Mexico. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CDT)

SERIES HISTORY | MSU leads, 23-3-3

LAST MEETING | Julian Trapp scored in the final minute, and Eastern New Mexico stunned No. 13-ranked Midwestern State, 2-1, in November of 2019. Carlos Flores scored in the 38th minute for the Mustangs, who were dealt a third-straight loss for the first time since 1997. Gabriel Peres scored for ENMU to draw even in the 51st minute, and Julian Trapp scored the game winner in the waning seconds at Greyhound Stadium. MSU outshot the Greyhounds, 12-7. Taylor Lampe made two saves for Midwestern State.

LAST TIME OUT | Midwestern State went a man down in the 23rd minute Saturday night at Eagle Soccer Field. Oklahoma Christian took full advantage of its good fortune cashing in for a 2-1 win over the Mustangs. MSU's Darryl Walsh was shown a red card after taking down OC sophomore forward Isaias Silva during an opportunity to score in the 23rd minute, leading to a successful penalty kick conversion by Joep Claassen. Midwestern State struck back with a short-handed goal in the 30th minute off the right foot of sophomore Max Gonzales on an assist from Rory Doyle. Silva provided the winning margin with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.
