Mustangs visit West Texas A&M seeking road win at The Pitch

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State plays its second of three-straight road matches, facing No. 17-ranked West Texas A&M at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas, on Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Series History | West Texas A&M leads, 25-21-3

LAST MEETING | Alyssa Salinas scored her first goal of the season, and Cassidy Savoy had a goal and an assist, as Midwestern State defeated West Texas A&M at Stang Park last season, 3-2. The Mustangs snapped a six-match winless streak in the series with the victory and improved to 14-6-0 all-time in home matches against the Buffaloes. Salinas struck in the 21st minute, and Savoy would give MSU a 2-0 halftime lead with a goal in the 37th minute. Isabella Cruz and Savoy set up Kelly Cannistra for a goal in the 48th minute. The Mustangs survived WT midfielder Asha James scoring twice from the penalty spot in a two-minute span late in the second half. West Texas A&M outshot the Mustangs, 16-9, but the Lady Buffs only had one more shot on goal, 8-7.

LAST TIME OUT | Lexi Jackson made a career-high nine saves, but Michelle Gonzalez scored her fourth goal of the season in the 83rd minute and top-ranked Dallas Baptist defeated Midwestern State Saturday night at Patriot Soccer Field, 1-0. Dallas Baptist outshot Midwestern State 18-12 and managed to get 10 shots on goal en route to its sixth-straight home victory. Goalkeeper Adrianna Schroeder made five saves to record her fifth shutout of the season for the Patriots. Olivia Okoye had two shots on goal for MSU. Cassidy Savoy, Randi Heaton and Isabella Cruz each had one shot on goal for the Mustangs.
