Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State and St. Edward's battle to a 1-1 tie after completing double overtime at Stang Park. The Mustangs sit at a 3-2-1 record (0-0-1 LSC) while the Hilltoppers are 2-2-2 (0-0-1) on the 2021 season.
SEU marked first on the scoreboard with Katie Gay notching her first goal of the season in the ninth minute of play. This was
Taylor Camp's fifth goal against for 2021.
MSU rebounded quickly with
Kelly Cannistra's first goal of the season at 13:22.
Emma Baley gained her first point with the assist. This was Abby Carlson's second goal against for the season.
Cannistra was the top shooter for the Mustangs as she recorded four of the team's eight shots and
Isabella Cruz collected her tenth and eleventh shots of the season. Gay notched five of the Hilltopper's 15 attempts.
MSU tallied three first half shots and SEU attempted eight.
The second half did not see any goals between the two teams; however, shots were abundant. The Hilltoppers put up five tries while the Mustangs had three. Still tied at one apiece, the game went to overtime for the second straight match for Midwestern State.
Each team made one shot in the first overtime period and in the second. Camp collected nine total saves to reach 41 on the year. Carlson pushed six away for St. Edward's
Midwestern State returns to Stang Park for their second Lone Star Conference match of the season. The Mustangs will face off against Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.
