WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- There will be a change in leadership with the Midwestern State softball program.
Athletic Director
Kyle Williams announced the program has parted ways with
Mark Ryal, who guided the program to a 74-115 record (.392) over the past five seasons.
"We appreciate Mark's leadership over the past five seasons on and off the field. We wish him the best in his future endeavors," Williams said.
The Mustangs experienced one winning season under Ryal finishing seventh in the Lone Star Conference with a 22-19 overall record in 2019 going 13-17 in league play.
Midwestern finished 12th in the LSC this season logging a 15-27 overall mark after winning 11 of its first 14 games.
The Mustangs have made one postseason appearance since 2014 -- advancing to the LSC semifinals in 2016.
The program advanced to NCAA postseason play in nine of its first 11 seasons from 2004-14 including a national semifinalist showing in 2011. The Mustangs claimed Lone Star Conference championships in 2006 and 2007.
A national search for the next head coach begins immediately.
