WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 17 Midwestern State bounced back and claimed its fourth consecutive Lone Star Conference win with a sweep of UT Permian Basin Thursday at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Mustangs (8-5) dominated from the start against the Falcons quickly clinching the doubles' point.
Kyndall Quiroz and
Ethne Dowling rolled to a 6-0 win at No. 3 just moments before
Anda Ghinga and
Emilija Visic closed out a 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Tiffany Hollebeck and
Casie Curry faced a tougher challenge at No. 1 doubles on the way to claiming their 10th win as a tandem taking a 6-3 decision over Lore Mewis and Lea Mjertan.
Ghinga squashed Anaya Singh (6-0, 6-1) at No. 2 singles, while Hollebeck cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Mewis at No. 1 to pull MSU to within one points of the clincher.
Quiroz took the honors with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Mjerta at the No. 4 line.
The Mustangs claimed victory on the final three courts with Visic claiming a 6-3, 6-2 win over Krystal Smith at No. 3, while Dowling beat Monika Cantu 6-0, 7-5 at No. 5 and
Skylar Minns defeated Olga Guillamon 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6.
Midwestern State battles Western New Mexico Saturday morning at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 9 a.m.
