Lenahan pours in season-high 28 points in 71-68 win at Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Midwestern State are cool, calm and collected in their last second 71-68 win against Oklahoma Christian. There was an all-around performance by the Mustangs with Morgan Lenahan recording 28 points, Hannah Reynolds posting six blocks and Sheridan Bostic claiming the game-winning basket. MSU moves to 4-2 on the season while riding a two-game streak.
 
After scoring the opening basket, the Mustangs were held scoreless for 3:34 while the Lady Eagles took control.
 
The Mustangs were able to capitalize off steals by Lenahan and Frances King to take the 13-9 lead with less than two minutes to play. Lenahan led MSU with ten points, going perfect on her three field goals, one three pointer and two free throw attempts.
 
Midwestern State took a 40 percent from the floor while Oklahoma Christian was held at 28.6 percent for the first quarter.
 
The visitors struggled again in the first three minutes giving away three turnovers to the Lady Eagles. The home side went 7-16 in the second quarter with Lexi Borgstadt leading with nine points and three steals. The forward finished with 13 points, going 5-6 from the field.
 
Reynolds knocked down back-to-back baskets to help give the Mustangs the 36-33 lead going into halftime. The senior already surpassed her 2.3 block average with four smacks in the first half. She added a team-high nine rebounds with the conclusion of the game.
 
Midwestern State opened up the third quarter with an 8-0 run over Oklahoma Christian in 2:30. Brooklyn Bain notched a layup before the team went into their drought. The freshman guard came alive in the second half to add 14 to her four first half points. Three Lady Eagles lay-ups within a minute gave OC hope.
 
Free throws by the home side turned the game to a tie at 46 all with one minute left to play in the third. Kate Bradley posted 13 points and three assists for Oklahoma Christian. Fouls started causing trouble for the Mustangs as Lenahan and King both grabbed four going into the fourth quarter.
 
Oklahoma Christian took a 13-3 run into the final quarter, earning a 54-49 lead with seven minutes left. Two subsequent threes by Lenahan turned the tables to set MSU ahead 55-54. The guard went 5-7 from beyond the arc and 9-16 from the floor.
 
King posted nine points in the fourth quarter to push the Mustangs to a 64-59 lead with two minutes left in the contest. The guard earned her sixth double-digit game with 18 points and went 6-8 from the line. A 7-0 run by the Lady Eagles tied the game with thirty seconds left. Bostic nailed the game-winning three to secure MSU's first road win of the 2021 season. The guard posted eight points on the night.
 
Midwestern State is away from Wichita Falls next week for another non-conference game against a Lone Star Conference opponent. The Mustangs face UAFS on Dec. 10 at Stubblefield Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Fort Smith, Ark.
