Armstrong resigns as Midwestern State volleyball coach

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State Athletic Director Kyle Williams announced the resignation of volleyball coach Valerie Armstrong Monday afternoon.

"We thank coach Armstrong for her time as leader of our volleyball program for the past four years," Williams said. "We wish Valerie nothing but the best moving forward."

The Mustangs experienced one winning season under Armstrong advancing to the quarterfinal round of the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament during the pandemic shortened season last spring. MSU finished 10-7 and claimed their first LSC postseason win with an opening round sweep of DBU.

Midwestern State also advanced to LSC postseason play with an overall record of 8-21 in 2019 while finishing 12th in the league with a 5-13 mark

Armstrong guided the Mustangs to a 5-23 record during her first season in 2018, then closed this season with a 4-21 mark missing postseason play both years.

Overall, Armstrong posted a 27-72 record during her four season as the helm of the volleyball program.

A national search for the next head coach begins immediately.
