COMMERCE, Texas -- In Midwestern State's mid-week match, the team heads to Commerce, Texas, to take on Texas A&M-Commerce in a Lone Star Conference match. The Mustangs are 6-3-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the LSC will attempt to take three points against the Lions who are 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-1 in conference. The Wednesday, Oct. 20 match kicks off at 6 p.m. at Lion Soccer Field.

Cassidy Savoy leads the pack with four goals and two assists for ten points on the season to rank 16th in the Lone Star Conference. The sophomore conducted a brace plus a helper in the team's 5-1 defeat over UT Permian Basin (10/13) and added a two-goal match against Northwestern Oklahoma State (9/02). Her second goal at NWOKS notched her only game-winner of the season. Savoy tallied 24 shots with ten landing on frame for a 0.417 shot on goal percent. The forward caught a season-high five attempts at Oklahoma Christian (10/06) and three shots on goal at UT Permian Basin (10/13). Savoy completed seven starts with 629 minutes in 11 games played. On her career, the Fort Worth, Texas, native collected 32 shots in her career and 14 tries on goal.
Karalie Morrison collected nine goals and five assists for 23 points to lead Texas A&M-Commerce. The freshman has two game-winners in 12 starts.

Randi Heaton is second for MSU with nine points, divided out to four goals and one helper. The midfielder has two game-winners in the team's overtime victories over East Central (9/18) and St. Mary's (10/02) to post second in the Lone Star Conference. Against the Tigers, Heaton notched her goal in the last 18 seconds to play while claiming the game-winner at StMU in the first four minutes of OT. The senior recorded her first goal in Midwestern State's 3-1 win over Regis (9/12) and the last one against Texas A&M International (10/09). Her first assist of the season was registered against No. 10 Dallas Baptist (10/16). Heaton pushed eight of her nine shots on frame for a 0.889 shot on goal percent. In addition, she collected 11 starts in 12 matches to earn 875 total minutes. In her career, the Westminster, Colo., native accumulated six goals, two assists and 14 points on 30 shots and 4,180 minutes.
Leslie Campuzano sits behind Morrison with 17 points. The senior posted six goals and five assists with 32 shots for the Lions.

Taylor Camp registered 12 starts for the Mustangs in the 2021 season. The senior's 62 saves sits fourth in the Lone Star Conference and 51st in NCAA Division II while her 0.849 save percent earns second in the conference and 45th in the nation. In addition, Camp clinches a fifth best saves per game (5.17) and goals against average (0.928) for the LSC. Overall, the goalkeeper has faced 157 shots and given up 11 goals, posting her best season for MSU. Camp is currently 6-3-3 on the year with five shutouts. The Waxahachie, Texas native recorded a career-high ten stops against East Central (9/18) to help the Mustangs to a double overtime victory and notched nine saves in the next match against St. Edward's (9/25). In her career, Camp recorded 108 saves against 156 shots for a 0.777 save percent and added a 1.42 GAA. She is 8-10-4 with 31 goals against in 22 games played.
Jen Peters has started 12 matches for TAMUC and sits at a 5-5-2 record for 2021. The junior has 41 saves against 127 shots for a 0.683 save percentage. In total, the keeper has 19 goals against to average 1.95 per game.

Lexi Beck holds the most shots (35) for Midwestern State. Th freshman earns ninth in the Lone Star Conference with the feat and her average of 2.92 per match sits seventh. Beck's 19 shots on frame gain sixth in the LSC with a fifth best 1.58 average. The midfielder records two goals and two helpers for six points on the season. She notched the game winning goal against Northwestern Oklahoma State (9/02) for her first collegiate points. Versus Eastern New Mexico (9/29), Beck went for a goal and added an assist. Morrison also has the most attempts for Texas A&M-Commerce with 39 shots to date. The forward has 23 shots on goal in 958 minutes.

In 2020, the team put up 11 goals in ten games and in 2019, the Mustangs accounted 21 goals in 18 matches. In their first 12 matches, the Mustangs have played to six wins, three drops and three draws for a .625 winning percent. Midwestern State out shines their opponents 208 to 167 on shots and 113 to 80 for shots on goal. As a whole, the squad earned 11 assists versus the opposition's six helpers. HEAD COACH RYAN SPENCE begins his fourth season as head coach at his alma mater. In the 2020 season, he led the Mustangs to the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. As a player, Spence helped the Mustangs dominate in his four years on the field. He earned All-American from 2008-11 and helped the team reach the Final Four in 2010. His center back prowess assisted in gaining 35 shutouts in his tenure. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, he gained his masters from MSU in 2014-15. From there, Spence moved on as assistant coach at Texas A&M International in 2016 and head coach at Eastern New Mexico in 2017 before coming back to Midwestern State in 2018.
SERIES WITH THE LIONS
Dating back to 1995, Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce have faced off 45 times. The Lions hold a 20-19-6 advantage over the Mustangs while MSU holds a 10-9-3 record when playing in Commerce, Texas. TAMUC has taken home the last four meetings since 2018. The previous match-up saw Texas A&M-Commerce defeat Midwestern State 2-1 in the final game of the 2020 regular season.
