WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 15 Midwestern State closes out the Wichita Falls Invitational on Saturday against 19th ranked Southwest Baptist (Mo.). First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
The Mustangs hold a 9-4 edge in the series and won last year's meeting against the 17th ranked Bearcats, 4-3. This marks the fifth straight meeting Southwest Baptist holds a top 25 ranking.
RAMIREZ RACES TO THE TOP
Making her first collegiate appearance in the number one singles spot, senior
Ashley Ramirez cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Colorado State-Pueblo's Kali Hamilton on Friday afternoon. Ramirez improved to 8-3 on the season with the win.
IN THE RANKINGS
Midwestern State remained at No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA Division II team rankings that were released on February 19.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Southwest Baptist (Mo.) opened the Wichita Falls Invitational on Friday with a 4-0 win against MSU Denver. The Bearcats will play Colorado Mesa on Saturday at 9 a.m. before taking on Midwestern State at 3 p.m. The 19th ranked Bearcats are led by Jill Van Dungen (No. 30 - singles), Van Dungen/Catarina Zheng (No. 5 - doubles), and Diana Cabrera/Constanca Crespo (No. 24 - doubles).
CATCHING UP WITH COACH LINN
Scott Linn enters his 10th season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's and women's tennis teams. Since arriving in the fall of 2010, Linn coached teams have made 15 total NCAA Tournament appearances.
