WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 15 Midwestern State takes to the courts on Thursday for the first time in nine days when they host MSU Denver at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Last season's 4-0 shutout helped push Midwestern State to 9-1 all-time against Metro State in women's tennis. The Mustangs have won each of the last five meetings, with the only loss coming back in 2010.
SIZZLING CIZERON
Lea Cizeron improved to 6-2 on the season and 4-0 at the top spot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Hawai'i Pacific's Elodie Busson on February 25. Cizeron, who already owns two top 30 victories this season, has won five straight matches, tied for the longest winning streak since arriving in Wichita Falls last season.
IN THE RANKINGS
Midwestern State remained at No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA Division II team rankings that were released on February 19.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
MSU Denver improved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-3 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville on February 29. The Roadrunners, the defending RMAC Champions, have two singles players ranked in the top 10 in the South Central Region. Brooklyn Ross, off to a 10-3 start, sits seventh while Tabitha Porter, off to a 9-3 start, is ranked ninth.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH LINN
Scott Linn enters his 10th season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's and women's tennis teams. Since arriving in the fall of 2010, Linn coached teams have made 15 total NCAA Tournament appearances.
