ABILENE, Texas – Midwestern State battles McMurry (Texas) and Hardin-Simmons (Texas) on Saturday at the Siedel-Swagerty Tennis Center.
SERIES HISTORY
MSU Texas has had McMurry's number over the years, winning 18 of the first 19 meetings. The Mustangs have rolled to 13 straight wins. Midwestern State holds an 18-11 edge over Hardin-Simmons in a series that dates back to 1978. The Mustangs have won 16-straight meetings.
CREPY'S COOKING
Freshman
Alexandre Crepy notched his second win of the young season with a 7-6, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) victory over Ryo Minakata of Tyler Junior College on Friday at the number five line.
DOUBLES TROUBLE
Midwestern State has lost the doubles point in each of their first three matches this season.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
McMurry College is 0-2 on the season after losses to East Texas Baptist and Letourneau. Carlos Martinez enters Saturday with an unblemished (2-0) mark at the number one line while Chase Daniell is 1-1 at the number two line. The War Hawks are a Division III school located in Abilene, Texas.
Hardin-Simmons opens the 2020 season on Saturday with matches against Dallas Baptist at 9 a.m. and Midwestern State at 3 p.m. The Cowboys finished 9-9 last season, the program's first .500 or better season since 2016. HSU is a Division III institution in Abilene, Texas.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH LINN
Scott Linn enters his 10th season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's and women's tennis teams. Since arriving in the fall of 2010, Linn coached teams have made 15 total NCAA Tournament appearances.
