EDMOND, Okla. – Lea Cizeron continued her impressive run in the early part of the season, knocking off No. 29 Isabella Dunlap to earn a win over a ranked opponent for the second straight week. Unfortunately for No. 15 Midwestern State, it was the only win the Mustangs would collect in a 6-1 loss to No. 9 Central Oklahoma on Friday afternoon at the Oak Tree Country Club. The loss snapped the Mustangs' three match winning streak.
"UCO was the better team today," MSU Texas head coach
Scott Linn said. "Indoors was a little challenging early in doubles. They won the first 10 minutes of doubles, which was the difference."
Central Oklahoma opened the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, then ripped off five wins in six singles matches to claim a top 25 win.
Paola Landin def. No. 43
Casie Curry 6-1, 6-2 before Central Oklahoma made it 3-0 with a win at No. 4.
Ashley Ramirez's straight set loss on the No. 3 line clinched the victory for the 9th ranked Bronchos.
Emma Segetlija suffered just her second loss of the season, a 6-1, 7-5 result to Patricia Gribi at No. 6.
Midwestern State's lone win of the day came at No. 1 singles where Cizeron upended No. 29 Isabella Dunlap in a three-setter, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-2). Cizeron owns wins over two top 30 singles players in the last week.
"Lea (Cizeron) got another solid win at No. 1," Linn said.
UCO finished off the match with a win at No. 5.
