EDMOND, Okla. – It is a battle of top 25 teams on Friday as No. 15 Midwestern State tangles with No. 9 Central Oklahoma. First serve is set for 3 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
MSU Texas leads the all-time series 17-12-2 and the Mustangs have won four of the last five meetings. Last year, the Mustangs knocked off the 8th ranked Bronchos, 4-3.

SIZZLING CIZERON
Playing at No. 1 singles on Friday for the first time this season, Lea Cizeron earned a statement win, downing No. 9 Kim Moosbacher 7-6, 7-5 to clinch a 7-0 win for the Mustangs over Oklahoma Baptist. Cizeron remained at the No. 1 spot on Saturday and defeated Elizaveta Tregubova of Southeastern Oklahoma State in straight sets. The senior is 4-2 on the year.

20/20 VISIC
Emilija Visic improved to 5-0 in singles play with a straight set win against Diana Budnik of Southeastern Oklahoma State over the weekend. The freshman, who has occupied the No. 4 line this season, is the only MSU Texas singles player with an unblemished record (minimum two matches played).

STRONG STARTS

The Mustangs are off to a 5-1 start for the fourth time in the last five years. In the previous three instances, the Mustangs have won at least 18 matches. The lone exception, the 2018 season, when Midwestern State started 1-4 before winning 18 of their next 21 matches to finish 19-7.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
Off to a 5-1 start, the Midwestern State Women's Tennis team remained at No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA Division II team rankings that were released on Wednesday morning.

SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS
Central Oklahoma remained at No. 9 in the first in season rankings of the Oracle/ITA Division II team rankings that were released earlier this week. The Bronchos are off to 2-0 start with wins over Lone Star Conference members Tarleton State (5-2) and Angelo State (4-0). Adel-Byanu Abidullina (No. 26) and Isabella Dunlap (No. 29) hold rankings in singles play while the tandem of Nikki Boyar/Paola Landin (No. 7) carry a top ten ranking in doubles action. Last season, the Bronchos finished 19-5 and advanced to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Tournament.

ABOUT THE LAST TIME

Ashley Ramirez defeated Kirtana Bhat in a three-set thriller, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to hand the Mustangs the upset win over No. 8 UCO. The Mustangs grabbed the doubles point, then split the six singles matches to secure the victory. Current Mustangs Juliette Mary and Casie Curry joined Ramirez in earning critical singles wins. 
 
CATCHING UP WITH COACH LINN
Scott Linn enters his 10th season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's and women's tennis teams. Since arriving in the fall of 2010, Linn coached teams have made 15 total NCAA Tournament appearances.
