Cizeron sets the tone with win over No. 9 Moosbacher

Mustangs rout Oklahoma Baptist, 7-0

NORMAN, Okla. – Playing at No. 1 singles for the first time this season, Lea Cizeron earned a statement win, downing No. 9 Kim Moosbacher 7-6, 7-5 to clinch a 7-0 win for the Mustangs over Oklahoma Baptist on Friday night at the Oklahoma University Outdoor Tennis Complex. 

"Excellent win today at No. 1 by Lea (Cizeron)," MSU Texas head coach Scott Linn said. 

The Mustangs claimed the doubles point when Ashley Ramirez/Taylor Gray came back from an early deficit to upend Ethne Dowling/Moosbacher 7-6, then swept their way through the singles matches. 

"The ladies stayed focused and dug in to each of their matches in singles and doubles," Linn said. "They played as a team and made adjustments when needed."

Emilija Segetlija continued her hot start to the season with a win over Gabrielly Lamas 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6. Segetlija improved to 4-1 on the season.

Following wins by Ashley Ramirez at No. 3 and Emilija Visic at No. 4, the Mustangs took a commanding 5-0 lead when Juliette Mary grinded out a 7-5, 7-5 victory against Jenna Noel.

"The ladies as a group did an excellent job," Linn said. "Coach Daria (Panferova) does a great job on match day with the team."

No. 43 Casie Curry snapped a two-match slide with a straight set win at No. 2 before Cizeron collected the win over Moosbacher at No. 1.
