PITTSBURG, Kansas -- Midwestern State completed their season opening tournament with a 2-2 record after splitting a pair of matches on Saturday at the Gorilla Classic Tournament. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to Missouri Western State (23-25, 10-25, 27-25, 20-25) before regrouping to down Southwest Baptist, 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 16-25, 25-21).
MATCH ONE – Missouri Western State 3 Midwestern State 1
MSU dropped the first two sets to the Griffons before claiming a 27-25 third set win to extend the match.
In the fourth set, the Maroon and Gold grabbed an 11-10 lead after a Missouri Western State attack error. But it proved to be the last lead the Mustangs would have, as they dropped the battle, 25-20.
Junior
Sarah Glawe earned her first double-double of the year with a 16 assist, 13 dig performance.
MATCH TWO – Midwestern State 3 Southwest Baptist 1
MSU evened their record at 2-2 with a strong four set win over Southwest Baptist. After racing out to a 2-0 lead, the Mustangs dropped the third set before posting a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
