WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State hosts the University of Texas at Tyler this afternoon in a Lone Star Conference affair. Match time is slated for 2 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting between Midwestern State and the University of Texas at Tyler. The Patriots joined the Lone Star Conference prior to the 2019-2020 season and were approved in July to move into the second year of the NCAA Division II Membership Process (Transitioning from NCAA Division III).
GHOLSON'S GOT GAME
Rockelle Gholson earned her fourth double-double of the season last night, collecting 15 kills and 19 digs against No. 20 Texas A&M-Commerce. The 15 kills were a season high.
HAMMERING HONEYCUTT
Lauren Honeycutt continues to be a productive presence on the court for the Mustangs. The sophomore has recorded at least five kills and at least seven points in each of her last three matches.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
The University of Texas at Tyler rolls into D.L. Ligon Coliseum following a 3-0 loss to Texas Woman's University on Friday night. The Patriots have dropped two straight after their second three-game winning streak of the young season. Kylee Becker leads the way for the first year member of the LSC, with 84 kills (3.47/set).
COACH'S CORNER
Valerie Armstrong began her second season as Head Coach of the Midwestern State Volleyball team with a thrilling five-set win over Western State (Colorado) on September 6. In her first season at the helm, the Mustangs posted a 5-23 record and a 3-17 mark in the Lone Star Conference.
