WICHITA FALLS, Texas – For the first time this season, Midwestern State gets the chance to play in front of the home fans as the Mustangs welcome No. 20 Texas A&M-Commerce to D.L Ligon Coliseum on Friday night. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Texas A&M-Commerce leads the all-time series, 25-15. The Lions have won the last four meetings, and seven of the last eight. Midwestern State's last victory over their Lone Star Conference nemesis came on October 18, 2016 in Wichita Falls (3-2).
BLOCKING OUT OVARIAN CANCER
In an effort to raise awareness and money about ovarian cancer, MSU athletics has partnered with the Be the Difference Foundation. The volleyball coaches will wear teal socks during the match and a donation page has been created at msumustangs.com/ovariancancer to aid in MSU Head Women's Basketball Coach

SUPER SARAH
Senior
Sarah Eakin was recognized by the Lone Star Conference for her "notable performances" last week against Cameron and Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Wichita Falls native hit .400 with 13 kills against the Aggies before hitting .357 with 12 kills against the Lions. Eakin has posted a .300 or better kill rate in seven of her team's first 10 matches.
HELPING HAND
Sarah Glawe leads the Mustangs with 200 assists and has notched double digit helpers in all but one match this season. The junior also leads MSU with 5.13 assists/set.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Texas A&M-Commerce moved up one spot, to No. 20 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll after opening conference play with back-to-back wins. The Lions, who knocked off previous No. 1 Tampa earlier this year, have won three of four. Shelley Chapron leads the squad with 138 kills while hitting a gaudy .402. The senior also has a team-high 55 blocks.
COACH'S CORNER
Valerie Armstrong began her second season as Head Coach of the Midwestern State Volleyball team with a thrilling five-set win over Western State (Colorado) on September 6. In her first season at the helm, the Mustangs posted a 5-23 record and a 3-17 mark in the Lone Star Conference.
