WICHITA FALLS, Texas – After suffering their first loss of the season last Saturday to St. Mary's, No. 19 Midwestern State looks to bounce back on Thursday night against Oklahoma Christian in the Lone Star Conference opener for both sides. Match time is 7 p.m.
 
SERIES HISTORY
MSU has never lost to Oklahoma Christian, registering a 14-0-1 record. Last season, the Mustangs swept the season series with a 4-1 win in Edmond, Oklahoma and a 1-0 victory in Wichita Falls.
 
TACKLING OVARIAN CANCER
In an effort to raise awareness and money about ovarian cancer, MSU athletics has partnered with the Be the Difference Foundation. The Men's Soccer coaches will wear teal socks during the game against Oklahoma Christian and a donation page has been created at msumustangs.com/ovariancancer to aid in MSU Head Women's Basketball Coach Noel Johnson's courageous fight against the disease.
 
CONWAY TAKES CHARGE
Defender Adam Conway scored his team leading second goal of the season last week in a win over St. Edward's. The Waterford, Ireland native has also helped anchor a defense that until the loss to St. Mary's had not allowed more than one goal in a game.
 
SHUTOUT STREAK SNAPPED
Midwestern State's 2-0 loss to St. Mary's was the program's first regular season regulation shutout loss since falling 1-0 to Newman (Kansas) on September 25, 2016, a span of 49 games.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
MSU Texas slipped 11 spots, to No. 19 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll after an uneven week. MSU routed St. Edward's 3-0 before being blanked by St. Mary's, 2-0. The Mustangs have appeared in the last 55 USC rankings as a ranked side dating back to the 2014 season and have received votes in the last 67 rankings dating back to 2013.
 
A MINUTE WITH MEACHUM
Michael Meachum kicked off his second year as Head Coach at Midwestern State with a 2-0 win over Dixie State on September 5 at Stang Park. Meachum posted a 16-1-3 mark in his first season at the helm.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Oklahoma Christian enters the start of Lone Star Conference play at 3-2 after defeating Dallas Baptist, 2-1, on September 21. The win snapped a two-game slide. Thomas van der Meulen leads the Eagles with two goals.
 
UP NEXT
A showdown with No. 4 West Texas A&M on Saturday night at Stang Park. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
