FORT SMITH, Arkansas – Midwestern State looks to snap a five match losing streak when they travel to Fort Smith, Arkansas on Saturday for a date with Arkansas-Fort Smith. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting between Midwestern State and Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Lions joined the Lone Star Conference earlier this year after previously competing in the now defunct Heartland Conference. Longtime members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), they were granted full NCAA Division II membership in 2011.
 
MASSETH MAKING MOVES
Kaitlyn Masseth logged 17 assists on Friday night against Cameron, making it the third straight contest the freshman posted double-digit helpers. Masseth earned the first two double-doubles of her career at last week's DBU Patriot Tournament. Against Missouri Southern State, Masseth logged 18 assists and 10 digs. Then, the freshman tallied 11 assists and 11 digs against Dallas Baptist.
 
EAKIN IS RAKIN'
Wichita Falls native Sarah Eakin blasted 13 kills in Friday's loss to Cameron. The senior posted a .400 hitting percentage, committing just three errors in 25 total attacks.
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Arkansas-Fort Smith improved to 7-2 on the season with a three set win over Texas Woman's University on Friday night. The Lions have won four straight matches.  
 
COACH'S CORNER
Valerie Armstrong began her second season as Head Coach of the Midwestern State Volleyball team with a thrilling five-set win over Western State (Colorado) on September 6. In her first season at the helm, the Mustangs posted a 5-23 record and a 3-17 mark in the Lone Star Conference.
 
UP NEXT
The 2019 home opener on Friday, September 27 against Texas A&M-Commerce. Last season, MSU Texas posted a 2-8 record at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
