SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Fresh off a 3-0 win over St. Edward's on Thursday night following a lengthy lightning delay prior to kickoff, No. 8 Midwestern State plays their final non-conference game of the year on Saturday against St. Mary's. Match time is 5 p.m. from Sigma Beta Chi Field in San Antonio, Texas.
 
SERIES HISTORY
MSU is a perfect 30-0-0 against the Rattlers and last season, defeated then No. 11 St. Mary's 3-1 in Wichita Falls.
 
SECOND HALF SURGE
MSU has scored at least one goal in the second half in three straight games, and has found the back of the net at least twice in the second half in each of their last two games. All five of the Mustangs' goals over the last two contests have been scored in the second half (two against Northeastern State and three against St. Edward's). 
 
LOCKED IN LAMPE
The reigning Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the week posted his second consecutive shutout and third of the season in Thursday's win over St. Mary's. The junior has yielded just one goal in 2019 and stands one shutout away from tying the program record for most career shutouts. Raul Herrera registered 21 clean sheets in his illustrious career (2005, 2009-2010).
 
MOVING ON UP
The Mustangs made another climb up the United Soccer Coaches poll that was released on Tuesday. MSU moved up three spots to No. 8, cracking the top 10 for the first time this season. The Mustangs have appeared in the last 54 USC rankings as a ranked side dating back to the 2014 season and the Mustangs have received votes in the last 66 rankings dating back to 2013.
 
A MINUTE WITH MEACHUM
Michael Meachum kicked off his second year as Head Coach at Midwestern State with a 2-0 win over Dixie State on September 5 at Stang Park. Meachum posted a 16-1-3 mark in his first season at the helm.
 
SCOUTING THE RATTLERS
St. Mary's last took the pitch on September 15, playing to a 0-0 draw against Fort Lewis. The Rattlers are a perfect 2-0 at home in 2019, outscoring their competition, 6-2. Ollie Wright and Luis Sanchez have each scored twice, while Liam Morrison has two assists.
 
UP NEXT
The start of Lone Star Conference play as MSU Texas returns home following a four-game road trip for a meeting with Oklahoma Christian on September 26. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
