DALLAS, Texas – Freshman
Kaitlyn Masseth logged her first two collegiate double-doubles, but Midwestern State (2-6) suffered a pair of defeats at the DBU Patriot Tournament on Saturday. MSU Texas fell in five sets to Missouri Southern State (27-25, 19-25, 23-25, 25-14, 13-15) and were swept by Dallas Baptist (22-25, 17-25, 16-25).
MATCH ONE

Three MSU players ripped off double-doubles in the five-set loss to the Lions. In addition to Masseth's 18 assist, 10 dig performance,
Rockelle Gholson (10 kills, 15 digs), and
Sarah Glawe (26 assists, 13 digs) also earned double-doubles.
Senior
Sarah Eakin added 14 kills and nine digs to go along with a .242 kill rate. She also blocked six shots.
MSU won the opening set 27-25 before dropping the next two sets to the Lions. The Mustangs roared back in the fourth set, leaving little doubt in a 25-14 decision.
In the deciding fifth set, the Maroon and Gold fell behind 14-10 before scoring three straight points to close within one. But the Mustangs could not come all the way back, falling 15-13 in their first match of the day.
MATCH TWO
Dallas Baptist 3 Midwestern State 0
MSU Texas entered the match with a 37-19 all-time record against Dallas Baptist but was swept on Saturday night by the Patriots. Masseth earned her second double-double of the day with 11 assists and 11 digs. Eakin slugged 12 kills to the tune of a .440 hitting percentage.
After playing from behind during the entire first set, the Mustangs built a 6-4 lead in the second set following an attack error. The Patriots responded with a 17-6 run to create separation before picking up a 25-17 win.
Trailing 20-13 in the final set, MSU notched three strraight points to close within four, but DBU rattled off five straight to sweep the match.
