WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State continues a busy week with their second game in three nights on Friday as they welcome Emporia State to Stang Park. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
SERIES HISTORY
This is the first meeting between Midwestern State and Emporia State.
 
SALINAS SOARS IN HOME OPENER
Wichita Falls native Alyssa Salinas had quite the home opener on Wednesday night, tying the game at 1-1 in the 54th minute with the first collegiate goal of her career. The freshman also recorded two shots in a season-high 64 minutes of action. 
 
CLUTCH CANNISTRA
Kelly Cannistra has opened the 2019 season with goals in two of the first three games. The junior midfielder scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the Mustangs season opening win on September 6, before scoring the only MSU tally in a loss to Fort Lewis on September 8.
 
SPENDING TIME WITH SPENCE
Ryan Spence opened his second season as the Head Coach of the Midwestern State Women's Soccer team with a 3-2 overtime win over New Mexico Highlands on September 6. In his first year in charge, the Mustangs finished 2-13-3 and 1-9-2 in Lone Star Conference action, earning a trip to the quarterfinals in the LSC Postseason Tournament.
 
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
After dropping a 2OT heartbreaker in the season opener to Rockhurst, Emporia State earned their first win of the season on September 8 with a 1-0 triumph over Lindenwood. Four different players have scored a goal for the Hornets, including Mackenzie DiMarco who leads the squad with three points. Coach Bryan Sailer is in his 9th year at the helm of Emporia State. He guided ESU to a program record 14 wins last season and the school's first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
 
UP NEXT
MSU begins a three-game road trip with a non-conference matchup on September 17 against Southwestern Oklahoma State. Match time is 4 p.m. from the SWOSU Athletic Complex in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
