WACO, Texas – Midwestern State won its fifth LSC Postseason Tournament title in the last six seasons with a 4-1 victory against No. 34-ranked Tarleton State on Saturday at the Waco Regional Tennis Center.
 
MSU eclipses the 20-win plateau for the seventh time in program history with its third-straight league tournament crown. The Maroon and Gold previously won the LSC's championship in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
 
The Mustangs locked up the LSC's automatic berth to the NCAA DII Postseason Tournament and learn their tournament destination on Tuesday at 7:30.
 
The Mustangs built an early lead in doubles and never looked back to take a 1-0 advantage in the match. The pair of Lea Cizeron and Taylor Gray topped Nathalie Ulander and Shelby Fillingame, 6-2, at the No. 3 flight before the 10th-ranked tandem of Ashley Ramirez and Bianca Duff downed Alicia Barbaroux and Neetika Sud, 6-4, at the No. 1 line to take the point.
 
MSU Texas won a pair of second set tiebreakers at the Nos. 5 & 6 flights to take command of the match.
 
Freshman Casie Curry extended her winning streak to 11, rolling Fillingame, 6-0, 7-6 (3), at No. 6 to regain the lead for the Maroon and Gold, 2-1.
 
Ramirez recorded win No. 99 in her career, ousting Ulander, 6-2, 7-6 (6), at No. 5 to push the lead to 3-1.
 
MSU held the advantage with first set leads on the remaining three courts. Tarleton rallied to force a decisive third frame in all three matches.
 
Cizeron was dominant in the third, cruising to a 6-1 win over Sherine Salem to clinch the match – and the title – for the Mustangs.
