@MSUMustangs complete RMAC sweep with 7-0 win over CSU-Pueblo

THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State continued its grueling three day, four match stretch with a 7-0 win over Colorado State-Pueblo on Saturday at the MSU Tennis Center. MSU Texas improved to 6-0 for the fourth time in program history and first since opening the 2011 season with eight-straight wins.
 
The Mustangs swept the doubles point for the fourth time this season and for the third-straight match.
 
The duo of Dillon Pineda and Nolan McCaig swept Cade Boedeker and Richard Garcia, 6-0, at No. 2 to open play. Angel Palacios and Denney Norrie followed with a 6-3 win over James Ryan and Dante Alcala at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point.
 
MSU Texas' eighth-ranked pair of Ben Westwick and Alberto Diaz registerd a 6-4 win to move to 3-0 on the season, taking down Daniel Garcia and Ogulcan Deniz at the No. 1 line.
 
The Mustangs rattled off straight-set wins on five of six singles courts to complete their second sweep of the season.
 
Alex Martinez Roca powered to a 6-2, 6-2 win against Richard Garcia at the No. 4 flight to push the MSU Texas lead to 2-0.
 
Pineda and Palacios secured back-to-back wins at the Nos. 2 & 1 flights, respectively, to clinch the match. Pineda ousted Deniz, 6-2, 6-2, just seconds before Palacios rolled Daniel Garcia, 6-4, 6-4.
 
With the match in hand, Diaz dominated the second set against Alcala, 6-3, 6-0, to push the advantage to 5-0.
 
McCaig overcame a lost tiebreaker in the first set with a thrilling super-set tiebreaker in the third. The sophomore defeated Ryan, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 12-10, at No. 3.
 
In the final match standing, Westwick drubbed Boedeker, 6-1, 6-2, to complete the sweep.
