Wilson scores season-high 20 in loss to Angelo State

THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Freshman Terrell Wilson continued to pour in the points on Thursday, scoring a season-high 20 in a 91-64 loss to Angelo State at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
The true frosh went 6-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from long range and 5-of-8 from the free throw line to lead the Mustangs.
 
MSU Texas was eliminated from contention for the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament with the loss paired with tonight's win by Cameron.
 
Six players scored in double figures for the Rams, led by Klair Crouch's 17 point effort, going 5-of-10 from beyond the arc to key an ASU offense that shot 11-of-27 (40.7 percent) from downtown.
 
The Rams used a pair of long runs in the first half to take a 45-26 lead into the break. From the 12:50 mark to 10:45 in the first half, ASU mounted an 11-0 run to go from up four to up 15 at 26-11. Two minutes later, ASU turned around another 10-0 run from 8:47 to 3:58 to double up MSU Texas, 38-19.
 
The Mustangs came out fighting in the second half, stringing together a 15-4 run over the first five minutes of action to trim the gap to single-digits on a Josh Wallace 3-pointer at the 15:34 mark.
 
ASU responded with a 16-3 run to put the game out of reach for good.
 
Junior Gilbert Thomas, Jr., scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Josh Wallace netted 11 points and connecting on 3-of-9 3-pointers in his first game back from injury.
 
GAME NOTES
- Midwestern State was mathematically eliminated from postseason play with a 91-64 loss to Angelo State
- ASU claimed its fifth win over the Mustangs in its last six tries and eighth in its last 11
- MSU Texas will miss the postseason tournament for the first time since the 2007-08 season
- The 91 points scored by ASU was the second-most allowed by the Mustangs this season
- ASU became the fifth opponent this season to shoot 50.0 percent or better (50.7)
- Freshman Terrell Wilson scored a career-best 20 points, going 6-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range
- Junior Gilbert Thomas added 12 points and eight rebounds
- Junior Josh Wallace scored 11 points on three 3-pointers in his return from injury
