@MWSU_MBB storms back with lights out second half in win over WNMU

THE RUNDOWN
SILVER CITY, N.M. – Midwestern State shot 59.3 percent from the floor in the second half, including 72.7 percent from beyond the arc, to erase an 11-point halftime deficit in an 81-78 win over Western New Mexico.
 
Freshman Terrell Wilson scored a season-high 18, going a perfect 3-for-3 from long-range to lead the Mustangs.
 
Sophomore Jared Evans poured in a season-high 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting while junior D'Monta Harris added 16 with four triples.
 
Trailing 43-32, MSU Texas mounted a 27-6 run to start the second half to regain the lead, 59-49. The Mustangs started 10-of-11 from the floor out of the break and hitting all five 3-point attempts over the first nine minutes.
 
WNMU had one more run in it, cutting the Mustangs lead down to three with 4:13 to play, 72-69.
 
Both sides exchanged baskets down the stretch before Wilson clinched the win with a pair of free throws with eight seconds remaining to push the MSU Texas lead to four, 81-77.
 
Jon-Reese Woodson put up 21 points for WNMU, going 10-of-17 from the floor and adding a game-high nine rebounds.

- Midwestern State snapped an eight-game road losing streak with an 81-78 victory against Western New Mexico
- The Mustangs improve to 12-1 all-time against WNMU and 4-1 in Silver City
- MSU Texas erased an 11-point halftime deficit to improve to 2-13 when trailing at the break
- Midwestern State shot a season-best 46.2 percent from beyond the arc, going 12-of-26 from long-range
- The 81 points by MSU Texas were the fourth-most this season
- Freshman Terrell Wilson scored a season-high 18 points, going 5-of-9 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point territory
