SERIES HISTORY
This is the first ever meeting between Midwestern State and Dixie State (Utah). The Trailblazers are leaving for Division I following the season.
SEASON OPENING STRUGGLES
Midwestern State dropped their third straight season opener on Friday night, falling to Westminster (Utah), 78-72. The Mustangs are 23-22 all-time in campaign starters.
KING IS KING
Redshirt freshman
Frances King was a spark plug in Friday night's loss, as the redshirt freshman scored five points and dished out 5 assists in just 12 minutes of action.
REVVED UP REYNOLDS
Hannah Reynolds poured in a team-high 17 points on Friday night. The junior scored in double figures 20 time's last season.
ASHBROOK CLASSIC
The 2019-2020 season marks the ninth season MSU women's basketball will host the Ashbrook Classic. To date, MSU has posted a 10-7 mark and has earned at least one win in seven of the eight years they have hosted the event.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH JOHNSON
Noel Johnson is in her 12th season as the Head Coach of the Midwestern State Women's Basketball team. Last season, Johnson led MSU to a 12-16 (9-11) mark and a sixth place finish in the Lone Star Conference South Division. Overall, the Mustangs have compiled a 151-154 (.495) record under Johnson's guidance. She became the winningest coach in program history on December 19, 2017 when MSU beat Texas A&M-Kingsville, 72-66.
SCOUTING THE TRAILBLAZERS
Dixie State opened the season on Friday night with a 75-41 win over UT Tyler in the Ashbrook Classic. Leading by two at the half, the Trailblazers outscored the Patriots 46-14 in the second half. Ali Franks led all players with 19 points, including going 2-5 from beyond the arc. Last season, DSU posted a 15-11 mark, their first winning season since going 15-13 in 2012-2013.
