PORTALES, New Mexico -- No. 13 Midwestern State conceded a last minute goal for the third straight game to suffer their third straight loss, a 2-1 setback to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday night at Greyhound Stadium.
The three-game losing streak is the program's first since 1997.
"We need to be a bit more proactive and stop waiting for something to happen," MSU Head Coach
Michael Meachum said. "We have to have the belief that good things will happen."
Carlos Flores staked the Maroon and Gold to a 1-0 lead with a tally in the 38th minute. The game remained 1-0 until Gabriel Peres netted the equalizer in the 51st minute.
With the seconds ticking down in regulation, Julian Trapp snuck one past
Taylor Lampe to give the Greyhounds the lead.Â
Midwestern State's last three losses have come in the 110th minute to St. Mary's, the 89th minute to West Texas A&M, and the 88th minute to Eastern New Mexico.
"It is frustrating that this keeps happening," Meachum said. "Our next two games to close out the regular season are very important. Senior night is on Thursday and it is possibly the last time the seven seniors will play a game at Stang Park in their career. We have to send them off on the right foot."
