CANYON, Texas – Making their first playoff appearance since 2016, No. 12 Midwestern State meets No. 5 West Texas A&M on Tuesday night in the Opening Round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
West Texas A&M owns a lopsided 37-1 record against Midwestern State since the rivalry started in 1996. WTAMU won the first 34 meetings before MSU came away with a sweep on October 20, 2017.
HOUSE OF HORRORS
Midwestern State has never won in Canyon, posting an 0-17 mark inside "The Box." MSU has suffered a sweep in 15 of the 17 losses.
ANDERSON'S AWESOME STRETCH
Taylor Anderson has recorded at least 10 kills in three straight matches, making it the first time the sophomore has accomplished the feat in her collegiate career. 32 of the Anderson's 65 kills this season have come over her last three matches.
EAKIN IS MAKING MOVES
Sarah Eakin's seven block afternoon against Cameron moved the senior into second place on MSU's all-time total blocks list with 322. This season, the Wichita Falls, Texas native has blocked 105 shots.
DOUBLE TROUBLE

Rockelle Gholson and
Sarah Glawe each recorded double-doubles in Saturday's Lone Star Conference win over Cameron. Gholson recorded 15 kills and 10 digs to notch her eighth double-double of the season while Glawe logged 26 assists and 12 digs to earn her ninth double-double of the season.
PLAYOFF PRIMER
Midwestern State clinched their first playoff appearance since the 2016 season with a 3-1 win over visiting Cameron on Saturday. The Mustangs grabbed the 12th and final seed after finishing in fourth place in their division. Since moving to Division II in 1997, the Mustangs are 0-9 all-time in the postseason. West Texas A&M grabbed the No. 5 seed after finishing in second place in their division. The Lady Buffs have won at least one postseason match in each of the last two seasons.
COACH'S CORNER
Valerie Armstrong began her second season as Head Coach of the Midwestern State Volleyball team with a thrilling five-set win over Western State (Colorado) on September 6. In her first season at the helm, the Mustangs posted a 5-23 record and a 3-17 mark in the Lone Star Conference.
SCOUTING THE LADY BUFFS
West Texas A&M rolls into the postseason at 21-5 and riding a three-game winning streak. The Lady Buffs posted a 14-4 mark in the Lone Star Conference and a 9-3 record at home. Torrey Miller leads the squad with 386 kills (4.11 kills per set). Gabby Emery (576 assists) and Sadie Snay (445 assists) both finished in the top 20 in the conference. WTAMU swept the Mustangs in Canyon during the regular season.
