Mustangs set for LSC Tournament Semifinal showdown with Texas A&M International

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – No. 25 Midwestern State opens the Lone Star Conference Tournament with a semifinal match against No. 20 Texas A&M International on Friday night. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Midwestern State improved to 16-0-3 all-time against the Dustdevils of Texas A&M International with a 3-2 double overtime win on October 24. The Mustangs are 10-0-1 in the last 11 meetings.  
 
LARA CALLS GAME … AGAIN
Sergio Lara scored his third game-winning goal of the season on November 9 to lift the Mustangs to a 2-1 win over Dallas Baptist. The senior has also scored game-winning goals against St. Edward's and Texas A&M International.
 
POSTSEASON PRIMER
MSU enters the postseason riding a two-game winning streak and had a bye into the LSC Tournament Semifinals after earning the No. 2 seed. Texas A&M International, the No. 3 seed, opened the Tournament on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over No. 6 West Texas A&M in the quarterfinals.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
Midwestern State remained No. 6 in the Super-Region 4 Rankings that were released on Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee. The top eight teams in the region qualify for the NCAA postseason. MSU improved to 13-4 on the season and 7-3 in the Lone Star Conference with a pair of one-goal wins last week. The first round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship kicks off on November 21 or 22 with first round games.

A MINUTE WITH MEACHUM
Michael Meachum kicked off his second year as Head Coach at Midwestern State with a 2-0 win over Dixie State on September 5 at Stang Park. Meachum posted a 16-1-3 mark in his first season at the helm.
 
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International squeaked past West Texas A&M, 1-0, on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals. Ruben Nielsen scored the game-winner in the 66th minute and Josh Jones made three saves to notch the clean sheet. The Dustdevils were in prime position to enter the LSC Tournament as the No. 2 seed before a 2-0 loss to UT Tyler in the season finale, coupled with a Mustangs win, dropped them to No. 3.
